MADISON (WKOW) — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is rolling out a brand new Beltline service truck.
The new vehicle was debuted at American Family Insurance Thursday.
“The beltline service truck is a vital tool for keeping our heavily used Beltline highway moving as smoothly as possible. Traffic safety has always been a priority for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Beltline service truck plays a big role in maintaining safety on the Beltline,” said Sheriff David Mahoney.
The Freeway Service Team is operated in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety. Donations financed the new vehicle.
The truck services State Highway 12/18 between I-90 and Old Sauk Road.
In 2018, the current Beltline service truck logged 54,195 miles and responded to 5,430 calls for service.
The new vehicle is a Ford F350 Super Duty, which like the previous truck, will use a compressed natural gas bi-fuel system made possible through a Dane County sustainable energy grant.
