United Way celebrates kids graduating from Dolly Parton Imagination Library program

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) — The United Way of Dane County is helping local children prepare for school and expand their book collections.

On Thursday, 900 kids graduated from the United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. Nearly 6,000 children ages 5 and under are enrolled in the free program.

WKOW is a proud sponsor of the United Way of Dane County. Chief Meteorologist Bob Lindmeier led the graduation ceremony.

The goal of the program is to help make books more accessible to kids and help them start getting ready for school by building their home libraries. The United Way says the program is important because it helps building children’s vocabularies, introduces them to new ideas, and instills in them a love of learning.
