Green County emergency crews rescue 3 stranded drivers from flooded roads

GREEN COUNTY( WKOW) — Emergency crews rescued several drivers from floodwaters Thursday, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said at about 6:30 a.m. deputies and Monticello firefighters were called to the town of Albany for a stranded vehicle. They went to the intersection of Schneeberger and Zurfluh Roads. Crews learned a 41-year-old woman from Juda was driving when her car stalled, leaving her stranded. The woman’s car was damaged, but she wasn’t hurt.

According to a news release, crews were called to the town of Spring Grove for a report of a stranded driver at about 7:30 p.m. A 41-year-old Milwaukee man was driving eastbound on Town Center Road when he became stranded. He was assisted from the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A 61-year-old man from Monroe was rescued from the top of his vehicle at about 9:15 p.m. in the town of Decatur, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Department. The man was driving on Decatur Albany Road when he became stranded in the water. He said he wasn’t hurt. The man was cited for failure to obey a traffic sign.
