MADISON (WKOW) — On National Vietnam War Veterans day, Madison College paid tribute to those who served.

Despite decades passing since the end of the Vietnam War, the memories never fade.

People were able to see dozens of those memories at the largest mobile museum of Vietnam artifacts in Wisconsin on Friday.

The museum was in town as part of Madison College’s Reflections of Vietnam and Military Resource Fair.

The program also included personal stories from Vietnam veterans. Coordinators of the event say they hope the museum helps educate people about what the war was like from the eyes of those who served.

“It was a brutal, divisive, unpopular war,” said Veteran and Education Coordinator John Koehler. “If we can bring some information to them what it was like for us personally, it can augment what students learn in a book.”

Koehler says the museum has been building its collection over the last 20 years.

Friday’s event was free and open to the public.
