MADISON (WKOW) — A local non-profit that helps get young people ready for their future will have a new place to help transform their lives.

Operation Fresh Start opened its new facility on Thursday on Milwaukee Street. This area will allow the agency to provide education and work training to twice as many people.

The group helps kids who didn’t make it through high school or need training to get into post-school programs.

“They help you in pretty much in any way that you could need help,” said Chris Swietlicki-Cantwell, recent program graduate. “You come here in a tough spot and whatever you’re going through and no matter how difficult they will help you through it whether that’s legal problems, getting your diploma, just getting a routine in life, job training.”

During its nearly 50-year history Operation Fresh Start has helped 8,000 disconnected youth find a career path.
