Madison bank robbery suspect arrested within minutes of robbery

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police arrested a bank robbery suspect about ten minutes after a heist was first reported.

The robbery happened Tuesday morning around 9:33 a.m. at Old National Bank on Sherman Avenue.

No weapon was seen by victims at the bank, but the robber did pass a note demanding cash.

With their workplace just a couple of blocks away, officers quickly swarmed the area. The suspect was found walking near Winchester St. and Ruskin St.

John E. Bauer, 32, of Madison was arrested for theft from a financial institution.
