UPDATE (WKOW) — A firefighter has died after a shooting at the Appleton Transit Center. That’s what Wisconsin Public Safety reports.
The firefighter was with the Appleton Fire Department. He was shot while responding to a medical call.
A police officer was also shot along with several other people.
APPLETON (WKOW) — A police officer and firefighter were among several people injured during a shooting at the Appleton Transit Center, authorities there said Wednesday evening.
A police department spokesperson says officers and firefighters were at the transit center around 7:00 p.m. on an unrelated medical call when the shooting happened.
Appleton Officers and Firefighters responded to the Valley Transit Center this evening for a medical call. While processing the incident, a shooting incident occurred. All injured parties were transported to local hospitals. No threat to the community at this time.

Several other bystanders were injured. The extent of their injuries was not available. It isn’t clear what led up to the shooting or whom was targeted.
The same police spokesperson says the threat to the public has ended, but did not say if anyone was arrested.
