Storm Track meteorologist teaches severe weather safety at Van Buren Elementary School

JANESVILLE (WKOW) – Meteorologist Max Tsaparis spent Monday afternoon talking all things weather with kindergartners and first graders at Van Buren Elementary School.

He discussed severe weather safety and everyone practiced their tornado drill pose, as seen in the article image.

They also learned that their classroom is not a safe place to be during an actual tornado warning, since they’re near an exterior wall and windows.

Max also talked about how he pursued a career in meteorology by staying passionate about his science and math classes.

Thanks to Van Buren E.S. kindergarten teacher (and fellow Florida State University alum) Jodi Halpin for the invite & thank you cards from the students!
