UPDATE (WKOW) — Madison police have released a picture of the car that hit a bicyclist Sunday night.
The vehicle is described as a small red car. It was going inbound on East Washington Avenue when it struck the bicyclist near Lien Road. Police say the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed when the driver blew the stop light and hit the 21-year-old victim.
Police say the bicyclist does not remember what happened, but video surveillance shows the entire thing. The bicyclist had been on Lien Road and had stopped at the East Washington Avenue crosswalk. She got a walk light and as she moved into the road, the red car hit her. The video shows the bicyclist crashing into the car’s windshield and ending up five or six car lengths away from the crosswalk in the middle of the road.
“We can see in the video that she appears to go up over the hood of this car and into the windshield,” said Madison police spokesperson Joel DeSpain.
