MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison area Catholic community now has a new leader.
Bishop Donald Hying was installed at a Tuesday morning mass at St. Maria Goretti Church in Madison. He becomes the fifth bishop of Madison. Other pastors in the Diocese are excited to see the Catholic community grow under his leadership.
“A wonderful man and everybody I know speaks incredibly high of him, somebody who just brings a lot of personal guidance as well as the gifts of faith and desires to be a good shepherd,” said Fr. Scott Jablonski, Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish.
Hying takes over for Bishop Robert Morlino, who passed away last year. Hying was born in West Allis and spent many of his early years and vocational career in the Milwaukee area. He received a Bachelor’s Degree at Marquette University.
