DANE COUNTY (WKOW) — A nationwide movement is removing barriers and making it possible for people with disabilities to play baseball on a diamond designed with wheelchairs and crutches in mind.

The Miracle League is in 300 communities, in five different countries. A group in Dane County is working to bring it to southern Wisconsin.

Monday on Wake Up Wisconsin, Bill Schultz and Greg Sweeney stopped by to talk about their goal. While the ballpark isn’t constructed yet, its future location is planned for Bakken Park in Cottage Grove.

You have the chance to pitch in some money. On Tuesday, July 9 the Mallards are hosting “Miracle League for Children with Disabilities Night at the Ballpark.” For $15 you get a ticket, hat and souvenir cup. Proceeds go toward the project.
