JANESVILLE (WKOW) — Body cam video from Janesville police shows the rescue July 7 of an 8-year-old boy who fell into the Rock River.
Janesville police were called around 2 p.m. after the boy fell off the pier in the Town Square and into the river.
An officer threw a rope to the boy and pulled him to the edge of the cement embankment, but it was too steep to lift him out.
Police say another officer also responded and flagged down a fisherman to help out.
The fisherman took his boat to the area behind Rivers Edge Bowl and helped lift the boy out of the water so police could then lift him up over the steep walls along the river.
The boy was not hurt, but was taken to a hospital to be examined, according to police.
