MADISON (WKOW)– Madison Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly threw a large rock at another man’s head and knocked him unconscious Wednesday.
The two men had been drinking together throughout much of the day, police said, when one decided to hit the other in the head with a football-sized rock as they walked on S. Brearly St., near Williamson St.
The 48-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with facial injuries and significant damage to an ear.
The suspect, 31, ran away.
The MPD says that they have probable cause to arrest the suspect for battery.
A witness, who provided first aid to the victim, said the rock attack was unprovoked and that the two men appeared to have been getting along fine until it took place.
