OnStar helps find stolen vehicle in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) — OnStar helped police locate a stolen vehicle on Saturday in Madison.

A woman called police at 6:38 p.m. to report that her vehicle had been stolen from Wiggies Bar on Aberg Avenue, according to Madison Police Chief Koval’s Blog.

With help from OnStar, police were able to track the vehicle to the intersection of S. Baldwin Street and E. Washington Avenue.

OnStar was also able to do an ignition lock on the vehicle, which prevented the vehicle from moving while police headed to the scene, according to Koval’s Blog.

When police arrived on the scene, three teenagers were seen running away, resulting in a chase.

Koval’s blog said police were able to catch two 16-year-olds girls, but one 17-year-old boy escaped.

The two girls were arrested and face charges of resisting/obstructing an officer and operating a vehicle without consent – passenger.

Probable cause was established for the arrest of the boy, and he will be facing charges of resisting/obstructing an officer and operating a vehicle without consent – intentionally take and drive.

This investigation is ongoing.
