UPDATE (WKOW) — Six people are moving on to the next round of American Idol after auditioning at WKOW Idol Wednesday night.
Makahya Drake, 19, of Madison got the top award, a Silver Ticket. The pass will guarantee her an audition in front of the American Idol judges or show producers.
Drake sang Rise Up by Andra Day and blew the judges away.
She said she couldn’t have succeeded without her family pushing her to do her best.
Five other people are moving on to American Idol with a Front of the Line Pass. They will skip the hours-long wait at one of the first rounds of American Idol auditions.
We plan to follow the talented bunch as they continue their American Idol journey.
MADISON (WKOW) — Dozens of people are taking the first step to stardom, auditioning for WKOW Idol Wednesday night.
The local singing competition is being held at Hotel Red in Madison on Sept. 4 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Contestants, 15 to 28-years-old, will sing for one minute in front of a panel of judges.
They are competing to win a Silver Ticket, guaranteeing that lucky person an audition in front of the American Idol judges or show producers.
WKOW Idol judges will also be giving out 10 Front of the Line Passes. The contestants who receive that will go to the front of the line at one of the first rounds of American Idol auditions.
Wake Up Wisconsin Anchor Rebecca Ribley will be hosting WKOW Idol. Midday Madison Host Samantha Bowers will be a judge.
