Driver involved in hit & run that killed Amish buggy horse located

LAFAYETTE COUNTY (WKOW) — Deputies have located the vehicle and driver they say were involved in a crash with an Amish buggy that left a horse dead.

The collision happened Sunday, Sept. 15, on Highway 81 in the Town of Darlington. Deputies say the vehicle hit the single-horse buggy from behind sending it into the ditch. The man driving the buggy was not seriously injured and called for help from a nearby home. The horse died in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle has not been charged, which is why WKOW is not identifying that person. They say an anonymous tipster helped locate the driver.
