MPD: Woman wakes up to intruder inside her apartment near UW-Madison campus

MADISON (WKOW) — A woman woke up early Tuesday morning to find a man she didn’t know inside her apartment near UW-Madison’s campus, according to police.

Police say the woman who lives on Howard Place, just off Langdon Street, woke up around 5:30 a.m. to find the intruder in her apartment. They say when she woke up, the burglar fled the apartment.

The preliminary investigation shows that the burglar may have gotten into the apartment through a window, according to police. They say the victim discovered a debit card was missing following the break-in.

Police describe the male suspect as 5’8″ to 5’9″ tall with short red hair, a light complexion, and scruffy face. He was last seen wearing a red baggy sweatshirt.
