MADISON (WKOW) — One is considered by many to be the “dream team” of pediatric cancer research and the other is called the best team in Wisconsin Men’s Basketball history.
On Thursday, members of each came together to celebrate the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund. The MACC Fund is donating $10 million to the American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Carbone Cancer Center. To celebrate that major donation, The children’s hospital researcher and patients played a game of horse against Ben Brust and Zak Showalter, members of the 2014 and 2015 Final Four Wisconsin men’s basketball team.
Those who have benefited from those donations include Michelle Wolfe, whose son Jase underwent countless treatments and operations over the past few years.
“He has been in remission since, all of his scans have come back clear,” said Wolfe. “So now we have a happy, healthy six year old boy standing in front of you and I just want to say thank you for the donation, because of these donations and the doctors here, you have saved my babies life and a lot of other babies lives.”
Former Milwaukee Bucks all-star Jon McGlocklin was also on hand for the celebration. He’s the co-founder of the MACC Fund.
