BELOIT (WKOW) — A Beloit man charged in connection with the 2016 shooting death of a 5-year-old boy pleaded guilty Wednesday in Rock County Circuit Court.
Isaac Torres pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide in the shooting death of Austin Ramos Jr. who was riding in the back seat of his father’s car. A sentencing hearing is set for April 5.
Last November, Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza was sentenced to 40 years in prison in the case.
Beloit Police said the boy’s father years earlier had gang ties, and Ortiz-Raygoza was looking to scare or harm members of that rival gang.
The other defendants in the case, Hugo Martinez and Eric Salazar-Mota all have cases still pending.
