MONROE (WKOW) — Monroe police arrested a man they say stabbed his roommate’s boyfriend during a struggle.

At 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, Monroe police responded to a stabbing on the 1700 block of 30th street, according to a press release from the Monroe Police Department.

24-year-old Joseph R. Luethje allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed his roommate’s boyfriend during a struggle, police said.

Luethje, police allege, initially used the knife to threaten self-harm during an argument with his roommate before the roommate’s boyfriend tried to take the blade.

Police say both Luethje and the boyfriend were intoxicated.

The boyfriend was taken to the Monroe Clinic Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released, according to police.

Luethje is in the Green County Jail charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety and
disorderly conduct while armed.
