MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police arrested one man after a smash-and-grab at Mounds Pet Food Warehouse early Monday morning.

Police were called to the business twice on Monday. Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to an alarm and shattered glass at the front door. The suspects ran away before entering the business and the store-owner used plywood to cover the door.

About two hours later, the manager called police after finding someone had removed the plywood.

Madison police arrived with two K9s and saw the suspects running away from the store.

Police chased down Darryl R. Howard, 28, and arrested him for burglary and resisting arrest. The other suspect got away.

In their path, police recovered stolen cash, a crowbar and a screwdriver.
