JANESVILLE (WKOW) — A Rock County sheriff’s deputy faces domestic violence charges following an investigation by Janesville and Lake Delton police.
Keegan Kelly, 26, a deputy with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by Lake Delton Police and faces felony charges of domestic violence strangulation, domestic violence battery and domestic violence disorderly conduct, according to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
He currently is on administrative leave waiting the outcome of the criminal and internal investigations.
He also was arrested by Janesville police on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence disorderly conduct, but posted bond.
The victim, described in the news release as a “female companion,” contacted the Lake Delton police on Tuesday, which prompted the investigation.
The following day, Lake Delton police believed they had “sufficient probable cause” to arrest Kelly, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy, according to the sheriff’s office, “was relieved of all police authority and had his weapons and deputy sheriff commission card confiscated pending the further outcome of both the criminal and internal investigations.”
“Once the criminal investigation is completed, a thorough employee misconduct internal investigation will be conducted by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office,” the sheriff’s office said.
