MADISON (WKOW) — Police say an arrest made Friday afternoon will likely go down as one of the quickest apprehensions of a bank robber in MPD history.
According to an incident report, a call was made around 12:40 p.m. reporting a heist at Old National Bank on 2929 N. Sherman Ave.
Officials say the suspect, 21-year-old Andrew E. Ruiz Dailey, was handcuffed on the ground by 12:43 p.m. after dropping a bag of the bank’s money.
Several police officers were only a block away when the crime was committed, as the Madison Police Department’s north district station is nearby.
Police say Dailey was taken into custody on a probation hold, and MPD will be recommending he face a charge of robbery of a financial institution by use of force or threat.
Authorities say no weapon was seen during the robbery, but a note was passed.
