Arrest made in shooting death of Kenosha 5-year-old

KENOSHA (WKOW) — Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death Monday of a 5-year-old in Kenosha.

Javonn Cannon, 24, Kenosha faces a charge of homicide by negligent handling of a firearm.

Jovonn Cannon, 24, Kenosha faces a charge of leaving a loaded firearm within reach of a child.

Dakari Weldon, 5, suffered a fatal gunshot wound during the June 17, 2019 shooting that happened inside a home in the 2000 block of 60th Street, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiners office.

Weldon was originally brought to Froedtert South Hospital – Kenosha Campus by two people who then left.

Police later identified the couple and interviewed them. They also recovered the firearm involved in the shooting, according to police.
