Two arrested, one at large after Madison police follow stolen Jaguar

MADISON (WKOW) — GPS tracking and coordination between the law enforcement agencies led to two arrests Thursday in connection to a stolen car.

Police arrested and booked Shawndale K. James, from Beloit and Devante C. Anthony, from Madison, into the Dane County Jail after the 22-year-olds allegedly drove a stolen car and ran from police.

James’ charges include operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, knowingly fleeing an officer, reckless driving and operating without a valid license. Authorities are holding Anthony for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and a parole violation. Officers believe a third man is at large.

Madison police say they teamed up with other area agencies to track a stolen 2017 Jaguar F-Pace via the vehicles’ GPS monitoring capability.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies and Wisconsin State troopers helped officer follow the car as it moved from Madison’s westside to the North Lake Mendota Neighborhood. The car crashed into a mailbox near a dead end on Knutson Drive and three men, according to police, got out and ran.

With the help of some people who lived nearby and pointed out where the men had ran, police set up a perimeter around a marshy, wooded area.

K-9 teams from Dane County and Madison searched and found two men hiding in some tall grass. Authorities arrested them at gunpoint.
