MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police are looking to identify a group of motorcycle riders who have been driving recklessly over the summer.

In the most recent incident on E. Washington Ave. on Sept. 30, witnesses reported the  bikes did not have license plates and the riders’ faces were covered by their helmets.

Witnesses said the cyclists were weaving in and out of traffic, popping wheelies and making other maneuvers, which prompted them to complain.

Patrol have had similar reports sporadically over the past summer. In some cases, police attempted traffic stops, but cyclists took off and would not pull over. Pursuing the bikes could cause an even greater danger to the community and would be in violation of the MPD’s standard operating procedures.

Anyone with information on identity of these bikers is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
