Police: Two bombs found near Oshkosh hospital, no danger to public

OSHKOSH (WKOW) — One man is in police custody after authorities found two bombs at an Oshkosh hospital Wednesday morning.

Police have not released the 39-year-old Oshkosh native’s name, according to a press release from the Oshkosh police department.

Around 2:19 a.m. a tip to police said the man had an “explosive device” at the Ascension NE Wisconsin Mercy Campus. Later, a search of the man’s property turned up a second bomb.

Brown and Outagamie County bomb squads then responded to the hospital’s 500 South Oakwood Road address. The officers removed the devices.

A search of the man’s home and car did not find any other bombs, police said. Police detained the man while the investigation continues.

Authorities reported no injuries and no danger to the public.

Police encouraged anyone with information related to the investigation to call Detective Hinke with the Oshkosh Police Department at 920-236-5703. Anonymous tipsters can contact Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at (920) 231-8477. The P3 app on Apple and Android phones also accepts anonymous tips, as does  www.winnebagocrimestoppers.org. Information which leads to an arrest could qualify for a cash reward.
