McFarland school put on temporary lockdown during drug search nearby

McFARLAND (WKOW) — Conrad Elvehjem Primary School in McFarland was put on temporary lockdown Tuesday morning while police conducted searches of two nearby homes.

The searches took place about 8:30 a.m. and were part of an ongoing investigation into suspected narcotics distribution and weapons violations, according to a Facebook post from the McFarland Police Department.

As a matter of caution, the school was temporarily placed in lockdown while officers entered and searched the nearby homes. Officers were also stationed in the school’s parking lot during that time.

While a large police presence may be observed in the general area for some time today, there is no immediate danger to the public related to this incident.
