Almena (WQOW) – Two juveniles are in custody Sunday, after a fire at a post office in Almena turned out to be arson.
On Saturday night, the Almena Fire Department was dispatched to the Almena Post Office. When law enforcement arrived, heavy dark smoke was coming out of the roof of the building. Firefighters ventilated the attic area and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Fire Chief Vince Wohlk called investigators to the scene of the fire, because he felt the fire was suspicious. Investigators determined the fire to be arson. The building sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, Turtle Lake officers took two juveniles into custody in connection with the post office fire. The two are being held at a juvenile detention center.
The incident still remains under investigation by the Turtle Lake Police Department and the U.S Postal Inspector Office.
