GREEN BAY (WKOW) — Before the Packers’ season finale on Sunday at Lambeau Field, the team honored a Madison doctor as part of the Operation Fan Mail program.

Dr. Eugene Nordby, a 100-year old WWII veteran, was an orthopedic surgeon in Madison. He was born a year before the Packers were founded.

As a lifelong fan, he told us he was honored to be standing in the center of Lambeau Field.

“This was a great experience, I’ve never had anything like this. I never thought I’d be honored by anybody but I’ve been pretty well-honored by everybody here. It’s really been a joy,” Nordby said.

Operation Fan Mail recognizes military families and veterans at each Packers home game.
