MADISON (WKOW) — A local group has collected more than a thousand bikes for kids who can’t afford one.
It was part of a bike collection day for the group Free Bikes 4 Kidz in Madison. The organization cleans, refurbishes and gives away the bikes.
The group partnered with UnityPoint Health Meriter for the collection. People dropped off gently used bikes at clinic locations on Saturday.
“This is a great way to give back, their kids have enjoyed bikes, their kids have outgrown the bike and now they want to help a new kid,” said Stephanie Johnson, who works in community relations for UnityPoint Health.
If you missed the donation drive, you can still drop off used bikes Monday through Friday at 4546 Verona Road in Madison.
