DOUGLAS COUNTY (WQOW) – The Douglas County Sheriff said GoFundMe accounts set up for the man accused of killing James and Denise Closs and kidnapping their daughter Jayme are not legitimate.

Sheriff Tom Dalbec said the accounts to benefit Jake Patterson are being set up by using fake or hacked Facebook accounts.

He said one especially alarming is the illegitimate use of a young Gordon girl’s account. She is now receiving online threats.

Sheriff Dalbec said these incidents will be investigated and violators will be prosecuted.

He said in the meantime, people should stop harassing the child.
