Winter car checklist: do you have everything you need?

(WKOW) — With a winter storm headed for southern Wisconsin, it’s important to make sure you’re prepared in case something happens to you in a snow storm.

Since the weather has been so mild lately, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office posted a list on its Facebook page reminding people of items to keep in their cars.

Some of those items include:

  • Snow brush, ice scraper
  • Shovel
  • Gloves and other warm clothing
  • Blanket
  • Flashlight
  • Basic tool kit
  • Jumper cables

It’s also important to make sure your car has at least half a tank of gas. Experts say in the winter, your fuel tank could get condensation in it, which could freeze up and prevent your car from starting.
