MILWAUKEE (WKOW) — Summerfest is making room for bigger acts.
It’s doing that by raising the roof of the amphitheater.
Tuesday, it took crews four hours to move it from 39 feet to 65 feet.
“It’ll affect two different groups, I think. It’ll affect the bands that we sign. There will be a lot of amenities for the bands and we’ll be able to fit much larger shows into the building,” says Don Smiley, CEO of Milwaukee World Festival.
This is the first phase of construction, it’s set to be finished by the first day of Summerfest.
Concertgoers will likely notice more of a difference in 2020, when the concourse and bathrooms are done.
