TOWN OF GREEN LAKE (WKOW) — One man died in a house fire early Sunday morning in the Town of Green Lake.

When firefighters got to the home, located on Tuleta Hill Road, they found the house in flames, according to Green Lake County sheriff’s officials.

Once firefighters got the flames under control, they found a 29-year-old man who lived at the house.  A search team pronounced him dead shortly after.

“Tight knit community up here, everybody knows everybody and the community suffered a loss last night. We’ll get down to the bottom of what happened as best we can,” said Chief Deputy Mark Putzke, with Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The firefighters were not hurt while responding to the fire.

The cause of the fire isn’t known. It’s being investigated by the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal’s Office and Green Lake County detectives.

Officials don’t believe there was any foul play involved.
