Former Girl Scout leader accused of sexual assault bound over for trial

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) — A former Sun Prairie volunteer Girl Scout leader accused of multiple sex assaults of a child had his case bound over for further proceedings.

Steven C. Faust, 49, Sun Prairie faces a felony charge of repeated sexual assault of a child, according to a criminal complaint.

A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf today in court. Faust waived his right to a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over, according to online court records.

The assaults began when the child was in kindergarten in 2010 and continued for five years, according to the criminal complaint.

The girl told investigators she now fears for her safety when she sees Faust.

Police say Faust had been communicating through social media with multiple juvenile females, according to a Sun Prairie police news release. He was volunteering as a Girl Scout Troop leader during these incidents, police say.
