MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police and firefighters are on the scene of a partially collapsed apartment building.

Firefighters tell 27 News a load-bearing wall was removed from an apartment on the 1200 block of McKenna Boulevard Monday afternoon.

As a result, firefighters say, the building “partially collapsed.”

According to the Madison Fire Department, no one was hurt, and the building was evacuated.

Firefighters estimate two or three dozen people are displaced.

Police and firefighters are on the scene waiting for a building inspector to arrive and evaluate if some parts of the apartment complex are still safe to occupy.

Firefighters said they are only allowing some people back into the building to grab essentials.
