Houston man accused of using “plate flipper” to avoid highway tolls

HOUSTON (WKOW) — Authorities have arrested a man they say used a “plate flipper” device to hide his license plates after racking up more than $5,000 in unpaid tolls.

Constable Mark Herman’s office conducted a traffic stop April 11 on a vehicle for failing to pay a toll in the 8000 block of the North Sam Houston Parkway West, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

Authorities say the driver, Preston Cody Talbot, was in possession of a license plate flipper which was installed on the rear of his vehicle.

Talbot already had been prohibited from operating a vehicle on the toll road due to failing to pay tolls in the amount of $5,473.07.

Talbot was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Possession of a License Plate Flipper. His bond was set at $100.
