Badger Honor Flight makes first trip of 2019 with 88 veterans on board

MADISON (WKOW) — Badger Honor Flight made its first departure of 2019 early Saturday morning, traveling from Dane County Regional Airport to Washington D.C.

According to a Facebook post, 88 veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam were scheduled to be on board for the “trip of a lifetime”.

A tentative itinerary includes stops at the Marine Corps Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Veterans returned to Madison around 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening for a welcome home celebration, which you can watch in the video below.

Badger Honor Flight says their purpose is to ensure that veterans from any war have the opportunity to see the memorials erected in their honor.

The trips are free of cost to veterans.

Badger Honor Flight will take off again on May 18 with another group of veterans on board.
