MADISON (WKOW) — It may be spring and the winter holidays are far in the rearview mirror, but a group got together Saturday to help their neighbors with a holiday tradition.
Volunteers took down the holiday lights on University Avenue in Madison.
Chris Kammer, who runs the Kammer Family Foundation, helped plant the trees where the lights hang more than 20 years ago with his father.
“It’s always more exciting to put them up than to take them down. The spirit of the holiday seems to impact people and they get all fired up and want to look forward to the coming holiday. Taking them down is a different deal,” Kammer told 27 News.
Kammer says donations keep the lights shining during the holidays and keep the trees in shape all year round.
