Suspect arrested shortly after Madison bank robbery

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police had a bank robbery suspect in custody about ten minutes after the heist was reported Tuesday morning at Old National Bank, 2929 N. Sherman Ave.

John E. Bauer, 32, Madison, faces a charge of theft from a financial institution.

With their station just a couple of blocks away, officers quickly swarmed the area, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The suspect was found walking near Winchester Street and Ruskin Steet. He was taken into custody without incident. No weapon was seen by victims at the bank, but the robber did pass a note demanding cash.
