Dane County rape case resolved as disorderly conduct

MADISON (WKOW) – The charges against a man accused of rape have been reduced to disorderly conduct.

In July, authorities charged Alexis Aguilar with felony, second degree sexual assault.  A criminal complaint stated the victim was inebriated and the assault took place near North Frances Street.  The complaint included a description of the woman’s injuries as reported by a sexual assault nurse examiner.

But a plea agreement earlier this month dropped the sex crime, with Aguilar convicted of the misdemeanor.  An amended criminal complaint dropped any reference to the results of the nurse’s exam.

A judge says Aguilar’s jail time waiting for trial satisfies as a sentence for the disorderly conduct.

Aguilar was briefly in the custody of Immigration Customs Enforcement.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne has yet to comment on the case’s outcome.
