(WKOW) — A new bill here in Wisconsin would establish automatic voter registration.

Two Democratic state lawmakers wrote the bill. They say the measure would encourage more people to vote.

The proposal was part of Governor Tony Evers’ original state budget, but was removed by the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee.

It’s unlikely to pass in the Republican-controlled legislature.
