UPDATE — Mineral Point has advanced to the WIAA Division 4 state title game with 6-2 win over Belmont Wednesday at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, near Appleton.

They play Webster Thursday at 9 a.m. Both teams are undefeated this season.

Mineral Point is returning to State for the second straight year. It’s the Pointers second trip in a row to state.

The Pointers have been on a roll this season, they head to State undefeated at 26-0.

Pointers sophomore infielder Liam Stumpf said, “I think this year we had to come focused because we had a target on our back going to state last year. Coming back this year and winning so many games, I think the last couple of weeks we’ve had pressure with that target on our backs.”

“We have the pressure on us because we are like the two seed coming in. We have the target on our backs,” said Mineral Point junior outfielder Grady Gorgen.
