Woman hurt walking across E. Washington Ave in hit and run

MADISON (WKOW) — A driver escaped after a hitting a woman walking across the street early Sunday morning.

Madison police said the woman, 39, was walking with her boyfriend at the intersection of E Washington Ave. and N Third St. when a speeding car hit her.  She hit the hood of the car and landed in the median.

The woman was bruised and broke bones in her ankle.

Police have not been able to locate the suspect vehicle.  They said it was a dark sedan and may have damage from the collision.

Several lanes of northbound E. Washington were closed around 2:45 a.m. as police responded to this incident.
