Teens in Mauston crash, including one who died, attended Franklin Public Schools

UPDATE (WKOW) — District administration staff confirmed Thursday that the three teenage boys, including one who died in the crash Wednesday near Mauston, attended Franklin Public Schools in suburban Milwaukee.

“At this time, the police are still investigating the accident that took place yesterday afternoon that seriously injured two of our students and took the life of another student,” the Franklin Public Schools said in a statement. “For the remainder of the week, our Student Services staff will be providing support to staff, students, and families at Franklin High School.”

“Our hearts go out to the families and all of our community who are impacted by this tragic event that has taken the life of one of our students and seriously injured two others,” Franklin Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Judy Mueller said. “For the remainder of the week, our Student Services staff will be providing support to staff, students, and families at Franklin High School. We join our community in supporting the families during this difficult time and offer our deepest condolences.”

MAUSTON (WKOW) – A teenage boy was killed when two SUVs collided on eastbound I-90/94 near Mauston Wednesday afternoon, the State Patrol announced.

According to troopers, a mother and daughter in a Ford Explorer slowed down as they approached a construction zone when a Lexus SUV with three teenage boys inside rear-ended the Ford. One of the passengers in the Lexus died, another has life-threatening injuries, and the driver is in serious condition.

The mother and daughter in the Ford had minor injuries, WSP said.
