UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies of injuries following July Fourth Interstate crash

UPDATE (WKOW) — The man hospitalized July Fourth following a crash between two motorcycles on I-39 died Monday, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The man, who officials have not yet publicly identified, was from Indianapolis.

The man on the other motorcycle, age 42, is from Noblesville, Indiana.

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) — One man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was involved in a crash while riding a motorcycle on the Interstate near DeForest.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the 66-year-old man was riding with another motorcyclist on I-39 when traffic started to slow in front of them. Troopers say the two bikers tried to change lanes to avoid traffic, but one of them lost control and crashed into the other.

The 66-year-old was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Troopers say he is from Indianapolis, Indiana, but his name has not been released.

The other operator was not hurt.
