Head-on crash in Sauk Co. sends two to the hospital

TOWN OF FAIRFIELD (WKOW) — Two people are recovering after a head on crash in Sauk County Saturday evening.

Police were sent to County Hwy A in Township of Fairfield for a two vehicle crash with multiple injuries.

When deputies were heading to the scene, a witness saw a man and a woman running away from the scene of the crash.

Within a few minutes, authorities found the two hiding behind a house.

According to an initial investigation by police, a Ford Escape was was going west on North Reedsburg Road when it crossed the center line and hit a Saturn head-on. The Ford rolled over several times, and both cars came to a stop in the road way.

Two people in the Saturn, including an 11-year-old child were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police identified the driver of the Ford as Alora Kalka, 21, of Wisconsin Dells. Kalka was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-causing injury 1st offense, operating while suspended-7th offense, failure to notify police of accident, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating left of center line and displaying false registration plates.

Kalka also had an active warrant for her arrest out of Dane County.

Another man, Kyle Rank, 21, of Portage who was also in the Ford during the accident, was arrested on a probation violation and cited for knowingly assisting a person fleeing from an accident scene.
