Heat forces Monona Terrace rooftop concert inside

MADISON (WKOW) — Organizers of the Concerts on the Rooftop at Monona Terrace say extreme heat has forced them to move Thursday night’s show featuring Madison County inside. The band will now play in the Exhibition Hall, which has air conditioning.

Organizers made the following post on Facebook:

**For the safety and comfort of our concertgoers, we are moving our Concerts on the Rooftop INSIDE for tomorrow night’s (7/18) Madison County concert. With a heat advisory in effect tomorrow through Friday evening and little shade on our rooftop, our spacious and air conditioned Exhibition Hall is the appropriate venue to ensure that our community members, the band, and our staff all have a fun and safe experience.**

Morning storms kept temperatures lower Thursday morning but as the day progresses meteorologists say to expect increasing sunshine for the afternoon with very hot and humid conditions. Highs will hit the upper 80s with heat indexes between 95 and 105°. Storms will be possible again at night, especially north.

Friday is the hottest day in the forecast with temps in the mid 90s and heat index values around 103°-114°.
