Kohl Center open as cooling center; UW campus minimally affected by power outages

MADISON (WKOW) — The Kohl Center is open as a cooling center as much of the downtown area is experiencing a power outage connected to two fires at MG&E/ATC substations.

UW-Madison says the campus is open and operations are normal. Campus power has been minimally affected, says a spokesperson.

Summer term classes and campus activities are still being held.

Supervisors are asked to give UW-Madison employees flexibility today, which may include letting them work from home, make up time if they need to leave work, or used accrued leave.

The Kohl Center is open now and will be until 6:00 p.m. No pets are allowed there. People are asked to enter through Gate A.
